Welcome to the International Research Network for Compassionate Midwifery

This platform is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of research into the concept of compassion in midwifery and maternal healthcare.

 

As well as a repository of research, discussion papers, and grey literature, there are also a number of forum rooms 

for discussion groups, offering valuable insights, resources, and networking opportunities. 

The IRNCM Working Group, comprised of experts in the field, is available for consultation on advocacy, policy-making and implementation, and in an advisory capacity for research ideas.

At IRNCM, we are dedicated to advancing the field of compassionate midwifery through rigorous research and analysis. We are keen to hear from those committed to exploring innovative approaches and methodologies to improve maternal care outcomes. The characteristics of compassionate care during childbirth according to midwives: a qualitative descriptive inquiry

Although compassion is considered to be of prime importance in nursing and midwifery, there is no clear understanding of what compassionate care in childbirth entails, and how midwives perceive compassionate care is largely unknown. This study accordingly seeks to describe the characteristics, of compassionate care during childbirth as perceived by midwives.
